I had never seen one of these until a recent thread on here, and this one came up for sale near me last week. Went and got it Friday, cleaning it up and doing some maintenance on it before it goes in the shop. Super excited to have a hoist, and it will work great in my small shop.

Blackjack Porta Lift

Congrats! One of the best tool purchases I've made. Not being tied down was best for me. Besides lifting cars it's also loaded cement tile on my patio roof, side-loaded scrap cars onto my car trailer and makes a handy adjustable height welding table when I throw an old solid core door across the beams. Is your lift line powered or battery? I haven't seen that brand before. If you do much work that might upset the balance be sure to get a pogo stick or two to help steady the load.

It's battery powered like the UNIC. I searched everywhere on this brand and I can't find anything. That is a little worrysome, but I don't think anything on it is super specialized. Once I get it all cleaned up I'll get some better pics of it. I'm super excited about it.

Does it have a rating plate or serial tags? Any other marking we can use to help you search?

These are the only additional information items that I can find right now. As I get the grease cleaned up, and covers off hopefully I'll find more info. I have searched portahoist and portalift in every combination I could think of. I also called the number on the decal which goes to a very nice gentleman in Canada.

Forgot to mention that I searched Blackjack Equipment Limited, and there is one in Canada, but not affiliated with the one on the sticker.

Made in Canada! Nice to see the weight capacity listed clearly and that it was intended for lifting vehicles and not parts bins or pallets.

Got the hoist all cleaned up and painted the lift legs and a couple of covers over the weekend. Today I borrowed a skid steer from a friend of mine and used it to move the hoist into my shop with a bunch of helpers. We laid it down on its back, moved it in (my door is only 7') and then stood it up and slid it into place. I still have to paint and re-cover the lift pads. I'll try to get that done this week, and I'll get a pic of the car on it by next weekend. It's perfect for my small shop.

It was hard to gauge the size in the first photos but it looks quite hefty seeing it now in the garage.

It was hard to gauge based on the cl pic. When I talked to the seller he told me he thought it weighed around 800 lbs, so we took a utility trailer to pick it up. When we loaded it in the trailer I thought the axle was going to break, and the tires were almost flat from the weight of it. I'm guessing it's closer to 1800 lbs. When we pulled in and saw it my brother-in-law and I both said 'whoa'. It was a lot bigger than it looked. Needless to say, I had to borrow a real trailer and go back to get it. That mast is almost 10 feet tall.

Got the car on the hoist today and wanted to update this post. I couldn't be happier that I found this thing, what a fantastic tool. I might be in the middle of a little happy dance when the timer on the camera went off

Put the cars in their final parking spots for the winter, which gives me an extra parking spot to do maintenance on my other stuff all winter. My barn is 24x32 with the door on the short wall, and now I can get 4 cars in here at one time. GLHS on top and Vair on the floor so I can finish up some work I'm in the middle of. Man I love this thing, like Phil said, 'it's bitchin'!!'

I knew you would. In a way, I'm glad I have a short garage ceiling or I might have bought a fixed position lift and never understood all the versatility these portable side-lift hoists provide. They aren't for everyone but it works great for you and me.
